Michael G. McNally Research Centers
The Institute of Transportation Studies (ITS) is the center for transportation
research at UCI. ITS is part of both the University of California Transportation
Center (UCTC) and the Partners for Advanced Transit and Highways (PATH). ITS also
is part of the California Institute for Information Technology and Telecommunications
(Calit2), a joint research enterprise of UCI and UC San Diego. Within ITS are various
research centers, including the California ATMS Testbed, the Center for Activity
Systems Analysis (CASA), the Center for Traffic Simulation Studies (PCTSS), and the
Center for Urban Infrastructure. ITS is also a partner with the National Fuel Cell
Research Center (NFCRC) in the ZEVNET program.
||ITS, the UCI Institute of Transportation
Studies is one of three University of California ITS branches dedicated to
transportation research and education.
||CASA, the Center for
Activity Systems Analysis, a research focus group within ITS Irvine, provides an
environment to foster research and development of activity-based and agent-based
models of travel and activity patterns.
the Center for Engineering Science in Design was founded to support
education and research to advance Engineering as a professional discipline.
The founding insight is that the Engineering profession brings science into
service to society by its design activities.
||The mission of NFCRC, the National Fuel
Cell Research Center, part of APEP, the
Advanced Energy and Power Program in UCI's Samueli
School of Engineering is to promote and support the genesis of a fuel cell
industry by providing technological leadership within a vigorous program of research,
development and demonstration. NFCRC, together with ITS, administers the ZEVNET

"I've come up with a set of rules that describe our reactions to technologies:
1. Anything that is in the world when you're born is normal and ordinary and is
just a natural part of the way the world works;
2. Anything that's invented between when you're fifteen and thirty-five is new and
exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it;
3. Anything invented after you're thirty-five is against the natural order of things."
Douglas Adams (1952-2001)
