Catalogue DescriptionDesign and evaluation of alternative transportation networks for traffic impact studies. Focus on circulation improvements including site access, lane configuration, intersection geometry, and traffic control system designs. Evaluation of alternate designs for current and projected traffic. RequirementsThis course is an introduction to the design and modification of transportation networks to accommodate traffic impacts resulting from land development projects. These issues will be approached via small problems and a case study application. The course comprises lectures and labs, and requires about six to ten hours per week on average to keep pace. PrerequisitesCEE126 and CEE127.IntegrityAs a UCI student, you have agreed to an honor code. You have selected a field which places professional integrity first and foremost. No form of academic dishonesty will be tolerated; there will be no second chances. Grades

All software will be installed in the Civil Engineering / UNEX Computer Lab in EG3141. A formal lab will be held every week; the Friday discussion section also may be held in the lab. Individual copies of software are not available, but additional formal lab time will be scheduled as needed. TransCAD and other software manuals will be available in the Lab, and may be checked out from the TA or the main CEE office. Course projects will be completed in teams of two (individuals may choose to work independently but will face identical requirements and grading). All project reports must be prepared professionally. Given the importance of technical writing in the Civil Engineering profession, each submitted project report will receive two equally weighted grades: one for technical content, one for report quality. A set of report preparation guidelines is available on the course web site. Web SiteThe course web site is located at http://eee.uci.edu/98s/14725/.Course Outline
