BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
Dr McNally is Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and
of Social Ecology, Director of the Graduate Program in Transportation Science,
and a Faculty Associate of the Institute of Transportation Studies at the
University of California, Irvine. He received his Ph.D. in Engineering in
1986 from UCI and was with the School of Urban and Regional Planning and the
Department of Civil Engineering at USC prior to joining the faculty at UCI in
1987. Research interests focus on the study of complex travel behavior,
investigations of interrelationships between transportation and land use, and
the development of new technologies and modeling methodologies which reflect
and support these research areas. Among various research awards, he received
a Presidential Young Investigator Award from the National Science Foundation.
He has served as Principal Investigator on a variety of funded projects,
including research and development relating to:
operational models of activity-based travel forecasting,
web-based self-administered travel surveys,
GPS-based, wireless in-vehicle data collection systems,
information technology for shared-use station car programs,
multi-jurisdictional corridor decision support systems with
integrated traffic microsimulation models,
the role of information on traveler behavior,
and
the evaluation of advanced traffic management and control technologies.
