The freight transportation and logistics research group at the Institute of Transportation Studies is examining many aspects of freight transportation and logistics.

Topics include: the development of optimization techniques for dynamic and stochastic freight and fleet management, the impacts of information technology on logistics operations and the development of behavior models, particularly those related to the impacts of congestion, fluctuation in demands and other stochastic aspects of daily operations.  In addition, the market penetration and appropriate pricing models for new on-line freight brokerages and exchanges is the topic of on-going research.  Recent industry segments examined include local truck-load trucking operations, utility fleets, non-integrated air cargo operations and the third party and e-logistics industries.
