Annual Project:
The Student Chapter Annual Project was presented to the joint meeting of the ITE Southern California section and OCTEC at the annual Student Night on May 20th, 2009. The UCI project, Local Effects of Gas Price Hikes to Transportation Systems, was awarded "Most Imaginative and Thought-Provoking" project in the Southern California Section's Student Chapter competition.

WTS Resume Book Deadline 28 Feb 2009:
The Woman's Transportation Seminar is again sponsoring a resume book, in CD format, to be distributed to the local transportation agencies and consultants. Contact ITE officers for further information [ more ].

2008-2009 Officers: New officers for the ITE chapter were elected for the 2008-2009 academic year. President: Chris Long; Vice President 1: Paul Harer; Vice President 2: Brian Banzuela; Treasurer: Stan Nguyen; Secretary: Jorge Zamora; Publicity: Jasper Alderete.
Annual Project: The Student Chapter Annual Project was presented to the joint meeting of the ITE Southern California section and OCTEC at the annual Student Night on May 21st, 2008. The UCI project, Signal Optimization Study for UCI Main Campus, was awarded First Place in the Student Chapter competition with other chapters in the southern California section.

UCI ITE Student Chapter Activities April 2007 - March 2008: See pictures of 2007 annual project presentations to the ITE Southern California Section, graduation (with ITE Cords), and the ITE District 6 Annual Meeting in Portand.
UCI ITE Participation in Engineering Week February 2008: The ITE Student Chapter had a major functional role in E-week at UCI. The Chapter organize the catapult competition, creating a set of rules and regulating the competition. Several ITE students competed in this event and in other events. ITE representatives also assisted in organizing E-week's barbeque for the entire engineering community.
UCI ITE Student Chapter Meeting [28 Nov 2007]
UCI's ITE Student Chapter is hosting a presentation by RBF's Bo Burick on the SR-57 Improvements Project Study Report, providing students a view of a real transportation improvement project in southern California. After, there will be pizza and RBF's Ryan Lynch will discuss potential career opportunities with RBF. Wednesday, November 28th, 7 PM, in the ITS Seminar Room, AIRB Suite 4000.
ITE District 6 Annual Meeting: The 2007 ITE District 6 Annual Meeting was held in Portland Oregon. The UCI student chapter attended and volunteered at several technical sessions. UCI students also participated in the student competition in which a bridge was to be made with tape and newspaper. One of the students’ groups placed with a cabled stayed bridge design. Throughout the conference students were able to meet with professionals in the field of transportation, network with other student chapters, and enjoy tours offered in Portland. A tour of particular interest was the air tram tour, which was easily accessed by Portland’s light rail called TriMet. See pictures.
Senior Graduation Cords: ITE began what is hoped to be an annual tradition of providing graduating ITE members with ITE graduation cords. These cords are blue and silver to match the colors of the ITE logo. See pictures.
ITE Southern California Section Meeting [16 May 2007]
The UCI Chapter presented two projects to the annual ITE Southern California Section Student Night, receiving the award for "Best Transportation Planning Project". See pictures.

District 6 Mentoring Program [03 nov 2006]
ITE District 6 is offering a mentoring program for students interested in a career in transportation.
District 6 Data Collection Fund
For 2006, ITE District 6 has made a special consideration for parking demand data collection. Student chapters that agree to the requirements for collecting parking data at theaters as described in the RFP will be considered for $500 grants ( RFP [pdf])
Celebrate National Transportation Week -- May 14-20, 2006
National Transportation Week (NTW) provides an opportunity for the transportation community to join together to create greater awareness about the importance of transportation. NTW celebrates the accomplishments and shares the importance of the profession and its impact on day-to-day life. NTW also looks forward to the challenges and innovations ahead. It is a key time to advance the profession by making today's youth aware of transportation-related careers and the opportunities that these careers provide.
Fellowship and Internship Opportunities:

The 2002-2003 ITE Southern California Chapter meeting with the student chapters was held Wednesday April 16, 2003 at 5 PM at Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant in Buena Park. The UCI Annual Project was presented by Arwa Aweiss. The chapter was awarded 3rd Place in the presentation competition.

The 2001-2002 ITE Southern California Chapter meeting with the student chapters was held THURSDAY April 18, 2002 at 5 PM at the Jolly Roger in Anaheim. The UCI Annual Project was presented by Socheata Chhouk and was awarded 1st Place.

The 2000-2001 Final Report is now posted along with the MS Powerpoint Presentation used at the April 18th meeting.
Results of the Annual Project were presented to the ITE Southern California Chapter on Wednesday, April 18, 2001 from 5-8 PM at the Jolly Roger Inn in Anaheim.
The ITE Winter Quarter Retreat was held in Big Bear during spring break, from 3/25 to 3/26. Student members who helped on the annual project enjoyed a day of skiing at Snow Summit.

UCI Chapter Awards: Our 1998/1999 Annual Project won ITE's James H. Kell Award. In both 1999/2000 and 2000/2001, our Chapter received "Honorable Mention" for District 6 Chapter of the Year (there are 29 chapters in the District 6 region).
